Boxed Set Bliss

My good buddy, Iken managed to score yet another awesome boxed set for me. This time it was the FASA Star Trek RPG deluxe set. All the books were in perfect condition though it was missing the Tactical Simulator rules. It still had unpunched, full color counters for the Simulator and the hex mat. There was a bonus inside and that was the "Next Generation Year One Sourcebook". A nice find indeed, though I would like to track down the big purple Next Generation book they did.

So nice to have the boxed set to go with the bits and pieces I already had.

  1. Good find! I used to have the Star Trek rpg up until a few months ago. I kind of regret selling it though. It's a pretty good system though.

  2. Don't know how it works as a system, but you can toss that New Gen crap out the micro-gee crapper at Warp 5. Prime Directive? My Prime Directive is to take no crap from Klingons, Romulans, or hot green chicks.

Kirk so would have slapped the crap outta Picard.

  3. Second Edition didn't include the Simulator rules - they spun it off to a separate game.

  4. This boxe says that it came with it. This was the Deluxe box set they did where they put it in with the 2nd Ed rules.

  5. Yeah, that's the box set with the ship to ship combat rules. Those are okay too but I prefer Starfleet battles.

  6. I was always the opposite. I preferred the Tactical Simulator because it better mirrored the movies. Starfleet Battles was always a long, drawn out, agonizing war of grinding down.

It was also infinitely more simple to run fleets with the Tactical Sim than Starfleet Battles.

  7. It actually looks like you have a 1st Edition box - the 2E box says "Second Edition" on it.

I have the contents of the 2E box somewhere (but the box is lost to the mists of time and too many moves). I still have my 1E box.

The 2E Simulator was spun off to its own separate standalone game that integrates with the RPG.

  8. I have the big purple book that Paramount made Fasa pull due to cannon direction.

Unfortionately it is just to big the scan and email. Amazon has some listed.
