Well, I've gone and done it now.
I agreed to play Warhammer Fantasy Battle again.
It's for the boys, really. No, really! Historicals don't interest them much, and even the vaguely historical VSF I have been concentrating on the past few years has a limited appeal to them, at 11 and 14.
Thankfully, I already have a goodly number of Lizardmen painted. Mostly skinks. So that's one army. The other? Empire. Good solid German stock, those boys. No flitty little Elves (Wood or High) or slow but tough Dwarves. Definitely no lisping Brettonians! A friend (who got my sons interested, so we are re-evaluating that 'friend' label) has Dark Elves, Chaos Beastmen and Orks and Gobbos.
I'm shopping for Empire and Lizardman bargains. Also going to start another (!) blog about it. Anyone want to help with the name? I'm thinking "Dear GOD, not another Codex" might work. Any better suggestions?

"The Money Pit", or perhaps The Pit of Dispair'? ;)
ReplyDeleteGood luck.
"Codexathon" might be a good name… : )
ReplyDeleteI'm not into Warhammer Fantasy but I was an avid Warhammer 40k player in my day. Good gaming to you! Don't sweat it- if it's fun, go on ahead.
ReplyDeleteOne thing worth considering is the amount of time the likes of Empire troops take to paint. My sons dwarves are quite a simple and speedy army to get done (and no expensive Greatswords):

How about calling it Warhemorrhage?
"WarCodex: A Father's desperate attempt at getting his kids into gaming."
ReplyDeleteOn second thought I might keep that one myself. Go with Codexathon :)
ReplyDeleteI went with Eli's suggestion
