Fleet Scale Mecha Update

So, the fleet scale mecha project continues and is nearing completion. I thought I'd post a picture of the finished mecha. All six of them are mounted on a regular wine cork which should give you some idea of the tiny size here.

I've got 2-3 more to finish before I feel there will be enough to call it good. One of the remaining mecha is a rounder sort of mecha that is reminiscent of some of the "enemy" mecha that appear in various man vs. alien anime.

Take care,

-Eli

  2. They look good, might find a use for them.

  3. Loving them, have no idea how I would use them but I've been thinking they'd make a great superhero for 28mm gaming, a little swarm base of tiny mecha...

  4. Thanks all for the positive words and feedback.

These are something special and not just because I made them. They represent something new that I haven't seen and they have also inspired me to work smaller which in turn has already had an effect on my sculpting of larger figures.

Gavin, i am glad you popped on so you could see a better pic than the phone cam snap.

  5. I'd love to paint these up like 'Leo' Mobile Suits! :)

  6. I love them, I'm eager to see some of them painted up, these might just be exactly what I was looking for.
I was thinking of basing them on magnets and having them run around on/under/throug a huge space station made up out of some of these: http://images.onccc.com/wsy/product/middle/WSY-005.jpg

  7. I've often wondered why no one filled this niche. Fleetscale mecha are done a bit by GZG but they are very bland - yours are much more Gundam-y.

Have you considered doing a larger scale? I.e. the size of a GZG/DP9 mecha like this:

...it would fit perfectly with 6mm sci fi, and allow a little more detail... as you say there are no flying mecha save the 28mm-sized DP9 ones

  8. I haven't give much consideration to trying to do largerm echa. This project was a spur of the moment project done as much to prove a concept as it was to produce something sellable.

I may, in the future, go for larger items, but those will have to wait until I am more adept at sculpting mechanical designs.
