A while back, I received a collection of leftovers, off-casts, and spares from Scotty at Combat Wombat with a request to, "See what I could do with them".
The collection of bits was pretty extensive and I managed to get a couple of hover scouts, the previous posted TARDS units and the shuttle above. I am not sure if the parts to make the shuttle were included on purpose, but I know that a similar craft had been cobbled together by Jason at Micropanzer and displayed on TMP at one point. Intended or not, I had to try to recreate the vehicle.
The engine pods that I used, Are from the ZHI-111 Chinese Lander model and and the main body is a a Grizzly Grav APC. I think the original Micropanzer vehicle used different engines, but I like the look of this combination. It has horsepower to it with those big intakes.
I wasn't too concerned with the parts being a bit nicked up and having some dings in them. First of all these were odd parts and not purchased kits. Secondly, I had put this thing together as a civilian, industrial shuttle. I see it flying survey crews around, picking up medical EVAC from work sites, or carrying management to inspections. It definitely has the look of a utility shuttle.
I am not sure how I'll end up painting it. I try to paint my stuff with a bit of a generic bent to it so it can be used across a wide variety of games. I know this makes my stuff a bit less specific, but I've got to make the gaming budget and space count.

Paint it in an industrial scheme. Something high visibility.
ReplyDeleteFor fun, you could paint it in a current heavy equipment manufacturers paint scheme. John Deere green and yellow, International Harvester red, Kubota orange, Caterpillar yellow, or something like that. A Red and white scheme might look good too.
And, as it is civilian, don't forget the warning tape yellow and black around the intakes, etc., so no one does anything silly like stick a hand in there...
Nice work. Ia gree with the industrial scheme idea. A nice bright yellow, with loads of dirt and soot.
ReplyDeleteSufficient amount of surface detail, looks really good!
ReplyDeleteNice modeling, Eli. Looking forward to the color scheme.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, it's not a major modelling project. It was as simple as mating up existing parts - two engine pods, to the right body.
ReplyDeleteScotty did all the work making such great separate parts that could be thrown together for something new.

looks good, I'd paint it up as a Wayland Yutani corp shuttle, but then I just watch Prometheus so I am biased.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Dan on a Weyland Industries piece of a equipment, 'cause that's cool and all.
